Located above Ingonish Ferry, the side road to the carriage road turns sharply off to the right below Castle Rock Inn. Hide-Away Drive rises from the carriage road to a ridge and then gradually meanders down several hundred meters where it crosses a small brook and shortly thereafter reaches this property.
The adjoining property has a cabin which is fortunately invisible from the end of the road and from the property for sale.
The property opens up from the end of the road onto a lawn-like meadow of about an acre which fronts on the ocean and a high vertical cliff of 40 to 50 feet. The spot provides an elevated panoramic view of all there is to see - ocean, highlands, Keltic Lodge peninsula and Ingonish Island. The ideal site for a house or cabin is at the top of the meadow which would provide almost a 180 degree vista. As evidenced in the property photographs, the clearing is surrounded by attractive copses of firs.
Beyond the meadow is the ravine which leads the mountain brook directly to the sea. One can either walk down towards the ocean to the brook and the sea (access to ocean here) or walk in the opposite direction down the side of the ravine to the pool below the waterfall. The waterfall gushes from a fracture in the cliff down several steps before bursting onto the pond below. The water is crystal clear and wonderful for swimming in the heat of the summer.
While the brook and the ravine occupy a significant portion of the property, the rising mountainside of woods and rock outcroppings blend seamlessly into the Crown Land which will be forever unavailable for development.
Due to the neighboring property having power and a former cabin on this property having power and telephone, there is no question of added expense for these services. In addition, cellular reception is excellent.
