HIKING & NATURE WALKS: Something for everyone, from a rugged and challenging wilderness hike, to a gentle walk along a picturesque river bank or a secluded sandy beach. Whales and seals can often be seen playing in coastal waters. Eagles and seabirds hunt for food where the sand and sea meet. In the forests, there are moose, deer and smaller woodland creatures. Early in the season, you might even spot a LADY SLIPPER.
KAYAKING: Beautiful bays filled with small islands and inland lakes provide a wonderful environment for this water sport. There are safe spots and challenging waters so both the beginner and the expert can enjoy this activity.
BEACHES: There are many unspoiled beaches nearby from Ingonish Beach itself to Cabot's Landing to the North and Wreck Cove to the South.
GOLF: The Highlands Links golf course, just minutes away, has recently been voted the top course in Canada. With its breathtaking ocean and woodland scenery and challenging track, it is a major drawing card of the area.
WHALE WATCHING: Two and a half hour tours usually provide regular sightings of Minke, Pilot, Fin and sometimes Humpback Whales. Also seen often are seals, turtles and many varieties of seabirds. The whale watching tours leave from Ingonish South Harbour.
Tennis, fishing, and sightseeing tours are all available close by. |
