Overview:

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful natural scenery, amazing sand beach, Highlands National Park, ocean, mountains, craggy cliffs, some upscale residences and a bit of a distance from any population center....this is Red River. And if this describes where you want to be seasonally or year-round, this 6.39 acre building lot with road access and services (power & phone) readily available would be a good choice. Partly cleared with patches of wild blueberries and partly wooded, the land rises gently from the road to a knoll near the highland foothills - a perfect building spot to take advantage of magnificent highland and ocean views. The Cabot Trail, the harbour in Pleasant Bay, shopping in Cheticamp and even a Buddhist Monastery are all within reasonable travel time without being close enough to spoil the serenity that characterizes the small community of Red River. It is one of those rare places where it is possible to get away from it all but still be on the grid - one of the last frontiers.

Comments:
  • The land is within walking distance of a sizable sand beach.
  • Pleasant Bay, only minutes down the road, has a general store, a cafe and a pretty harbour where pleasure and commercial fishing boats can moor - also the place to catch a whale watching tour.
  • While Red River is a tiny village, it has some surprisingly upscale residences.
  • The charming Acadian French town of Cheticamp is 30 minutes away for grocery shopping (well-stocked co-op store), good restaurants, bakery and other shopping necessities.
  • The nearby Buddhist monastery, GAMPO ABBEY, is a local landmark. (Interesting commentary on the area when one researches their reason for locating near Pleasant Bay). (SEE PHOTO OF ABBEY FROM THE WATER)
  • A survey, done in 1999, is available.
  • There is a trail that goes to the top corner of the property so it is possible to assess the view from the suggested building site when the property is shown. Also, the property corners are staked.
