The land is mainly cleared grassland with a valley on the Eastern side mostly covered with trees. A small stream drains that valley just where the gently sloping pathway to the beach leads down from above. Choosing a building site will be difficult only because there are so many possibilities.
St. Margaret's Village (also known as Bay St. Lawrence) is an attractive seaside village that is popular with deep sea fishermen and whale watchers. Nearby is Meat Cove, a small, remote community, that is noted for its rare orchids some of which can be found nowhere else in Nova Scotia. The drive to this community offers some of the most stunning vistas in Cape Breton.
